Firm Overview

The practice of law has become highly specialized. The era of the successful “general practice” lawyer is over, and realistically has been gone for 20 years. This is certainly true in Colorado generally, and the Boulder-Denver corridor specifically.

Law firms that attempt to practice in too many different areas of law inevitably provide inferior service to their clients when pitted against opposing lawyers whose practice emphasizes a particular area of law.

Schuetze & Gordon is a highly focused firm in the areas of serious personal injury, wrongful death and business tort claims. The firm does not do criminal defense, divorce, wills and estate planning, business formation, bankruptcy, mergers and acquisitions, or tax law.

Within the areas of personal injury and wrongful death, Schuetze & Gordon has established a reputation in the following areas:

  • Automobile, motorcycle and bicycle accidents
  • Ski area accidents
  • Railroad grade crossing collisions
  • Product liability
  • Premises liability
  • Professional malpractice
  • Aviation

Schuetze & Gordon has received the highest possible rating of “AV” from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and counts among its partners counsel recognized in The Best Lawyers In America peer review publication, a past president of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and instructor of Trial Advocacy of the University of Colorado School of Law in Boulder.

The strength of the firm is its experience in trials and litigations. It is this experience and success in trials that gives the firm a position of strength and of credibility in negotiating on behalf of clients. There are many lawyers who hold themselves out as specialists in personal injury and wrongful death who have either never been in an actual trial or have been in very few. The lawyers in Schuetze & Gordon are not encumbered by the inescapable weakness that goes along with not having extensive experience in taking cases to trial.

Opposing counsel and, more important, the insurance industry, know which law firms and which lawyers have a track record of being successful in trial and which do not. Selecting a law firm with a track record of success is critical to giving a litigant their best chances for a successful outcome.

Bob Schuetze and Glen Gordon have practiced together for many years and were partners at the longstanding firm of Purvis, Gray, Schuetze & Gordon. Our main office is in Boulder, Colorado, and we have an office in Denver and accommodations to meet clients in Vail, Colorado. The majority of our cases is in the Boulder-Denver area, but our practice is statewide and includes federal court. Both Bob Schuetze and Glen Gordon are licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

The recent addition of Judge Cahn as an associate has helped the firm to provide high quality and efficient service to clients. Judge Cahn is a graduate of Stanford and C.U. Law School and is a part-time Boulder Municipal Court Judge.
